Ipad Sync Question

Hey guys …. Here is my problem.
My HDD on my iMac just failed on me … and my last backup was done almost a month ago …
In between the time of my backup and my HDD having fried … I put into iTunes music and videos.
When I got my iPad I had sync those added music and videos.

My question is this … when I get my new HDD installed … and put back my old iTunes backup into my iMac … then sync my iPad to it … what will happen ?
Will iTunes erase my added music and videos on my iPad (that were added after my backup) or will iTunes just transfer back into my iMac everything from the iPad ?

If those music and videos were purchased through iTunes, you can right-click on the iPad icon in iTunes, and select "transfer purchases," and they will be copied to your computer. If they were from other sources, you'd need to use a third-party program to copy them off your iPad before you sync -- if you don't, they'll get deleted.

Even if my music was purchased wigh iTunes on my mac and not my iPad ??
Will I still be able to transfer purchases to my iMac to put like it was before my HDD failed on me ...

Or am I only able to transfer purchased music bought from my iPad ....??

Before you get overly concerned about the recovery you don't define what happened with the hard drive. You just say it failed you. Is it that it just doesn't boot? If so, you could very well be able to get the actual important files off the drive. Install the new drive and put the OS on it. Then put the old drive in an external case and see if you can pull your files off it. Chances are you will be able to.

Well when I boot with CD drive and go to Disk utility, ... my drive icon is red ... and says "Hardware problem, please contact an apple technician"

I figured it might be R.I.P. for all my files...

Depends on how you restore the new hard drive, if it's done well, then the itunes will agree and sync the iPad as if nothing happens, but videos and music cannot be transferred back? Unless bought through iTunes.

If your iPad has your complete itunes library then you can just get software (some are free or pm for some direction) which can clone iPod libraries to your iTunes library.

That just means it's not bootable. That doesn't meant you can't recover files from the drive. That's two very different things. You aren't trying to boot from the bad drive. You're just trying to recover some files.
