Has anyone tried this? Use iPhone tethering on your laptop, and set your laptop to share a wireless connection. If your iPad joins your laptop's wireless network, can you then use the internet?

It's a lot of steps and probably not even worth the hassle, but curious if it would work.

Wish Apple would allow Bluetooth iPhone tethering on the iPad.

Depends what type of iPhone Tethering you are talking about.

If you're tethering using the Non-JB way, then sure, you can make a WiFi hotspot from your Mac. But there's no way to directly connect your iPhone to your iPad, this is why I got a 3G iPad :)

Well if u do JB it then u can just install mywi and then connect iPad directly to your iPhone what I do both ways

yes, this works, I just tried it - either tethering USB or Bluetooth from iPhone to MacBook Pro, then on MBP enable Internet Sharing via AirPort, and connect iPad to your MBP's wireless network.

and yes it's a bunch of steps and not really worth the hassle :)

Why would you want to go to all those steps in the First place if all you want is Wifi connection on your Ipad, If you had Mywi 4.0 you could either set it for Wifi mode and anyone can jump on your connection or plug your phone into your USB connection on your Laptop and turn that on in your setting in Mywi 4.0 and you have a connection on the Laptop.

This all depends on having your phone Jailbroke too, which is not that big of deal anymore, It will take longer to open Safari and go to Jailbreakme.com and slide the button. You could do while you are waiting for a Latte at Starbucks as they have free wifi now! :D

I wouldn't go through all those steps. I would just use my laptop to surf the web.

I know his highness has stated that iPad-iPhone tethering won't be allowed, but here's praying that Steve changes his mind and allows it.
