This is an interesting perspective on how the iPad will change things:

'Pundits, particularly of the Windows Enthusiast variety, don’t understand the iPad. It won’t kill the netbook and certainly can’t kill the notebook, they tell us. If only they knew what the iPad was really meant to destroy'

Steve Jobs likes to kill old things!

I hope this guy doesn't actually believe what he writes. So the iPad is basically going to kill everything else off? I have one, and after the initial fun wore off, I know I would return it if I wasn't using it for dev work. It's not all that great, and EXTREMELY limited. My PC/Macs are still far better to use.

Remember this is just the start, I think he's trying to make the point as to where the concept could lead to.

Surely you realize that you aren't in the target demographic for the iPad. The limitations won't effect the majority of regular consumers. I've already seen several people who were anti-iPad end up buying them yesterday after they used it for a little while.

The limitations are there, but not at all the big deal some are trying to make it.

People thought the iPhone wouldn't be all that much at first either, now it dominates.

In a few years, this will be how computing is done.

Hardware is the tool, not the most important part. Tech guys don't like that, but for everyone else it's the truth.

I don't get this regular people thing. I don't know anything about how computers work, don't know how to develop, I had to make droidmod automatically cause i had no clue what any of that meant. But everyone can tell when your playing pandora, go to surf the web and it shuts off. Everyone knows how to use a file system, it's so simple it's not funny.

It's nice he gives credit to the Ipad for things that have been set in motion long before the Ipad was released. Some of those things will never happen. Others are a pretty big stretch to attribute to the Ipad alone. I don't see a single thing on that list that the Ipad will single handedly kill.
