I just picked up my iPad and tried to wake the screen, instead of it unlocking via FaceID, my iPad was rapidly trying to password combinations on its own. I couldn’t stop it, and it locked me out for 1 minute.

I turned it off and on, and upon waking the screen was rapid firing passwords again, and now I’m locked out for 5 minutes.
I’m afraid to turn it back on and I’m wondering am I hacked?

I have the iPad Pro that is the release right before the one that was just announced. Software is updated to the latest software as well.

What’s going here??

It could be a strange touch responsiveness issue. I doubt that you were hacked.

My suspects - touch screen issue (clean the screen, remove screen protector if any), interference (unplug device, remove from case, turn off any external input devices or remove them from range like keyboards, pencil etc.) or just plain broken touch panel.

I contacted Apple support and I was told that it is indeed a touch issue. I did troubleshoot, cleaning the screen etc. I was given the option of getting it replaced, or fixed and since there’s no where to take it in, they’re going to mail me a replacement iPad and I just have to mail back mine.
