I recently dropped my iPad Mini 2 and cracked the outer glass to the point it needs to be replaced. I have a local independent store willing to fix it for $85, but it may end up costing $120 if they damage the LCD in the process. Is it worth it to fix the iPad Mini 2 even though it doesn't receive software updates anymore or should I upgrade? I'm not looking to shell out $500 for a new iPad, but the new 7th gen iPad is on sale for $280 at BestBuy right now, so that is a viable option. Thanks in advance!

If you have the money and you regularly use your iPad I'd choose upgrading since that money will last you longer. The Mini will work for now and a little while but you don't know if you'll miss features or security of the new software in the near future.

With A7 and 1GB RAM, I don't imagine performance on the mini 2 is particularly good anyway. I also recommend just going for the 7th gen.

Lowest price I've seen for it was $229 (Cyber Monday?) but this year, it's dropped down to $249 several times (although I dunno if supplies and sales may be affected by the Corona virus).

Upgrade to the 7th generation iPad.
