So I was just looking at the iPad at apple.com where I found something interesting, USB Adapter and SD Card Adapter. Very Interesting, a couple of questions come to mind:

1. Can the USB Adapter charge my USB devices (iPods and iPhone)
2. What is the potential for a USB Web-Camera (Not necessarily made from Apple)
3. Jailbreaking potential???

Any other possibilities???

1) This is a very good question. Didn't think about this yet, but I think it does. We should wait until we can test it.
2) Probably not.
3) Maybe later, but certainly not in the beginning.

This might be more difficult than it seems. Assuming you want to charge the iPad from your iMac (or any other computer) you would need a USB cable that has *two* male type A heads. Most USB cables are male type A to type B, micro or mini USB (all male ends of course). To easily fix this problem, you need to change one part of the cables gender and tip. http://www.usbfirewire.com/uconverters.html

Sorry if I confused this subject for anyone. Maybe the world be better if we didn't give cables a gender...

I think you misunderstood. I think the OP was looking to charge an iPhone/iPod using their iPad, by plugging the iPhone/iPod's USB cable into the USB adaptor.

To the OP, if it provides standard power, then I imagine it should work. Will likely drain your iPad battery a decent bit, charging a battery from a battery isn't usually very efficient.

Honestly, and this is just my theory, I don't think it will charge. I think it will just provide an interface to get pictures onto your iPad and that's it sadly.

I wonder how much of a battery drain transferring pictures is gonna be? What if your iPad is about drained and you need to copy pictures. They should have it so the adapter can be plugged to a charger so that your iPad wont die in the middle of copying pictures.

I'm thinking it will provide power, when transferring pictures from a camera to your computer over USB the camera does get charged. I guess we wont know until they ship (who knows when thatll be?)

Doesn't look like it. :(

A few more questions:
- Can you attach a USB hub and expect it to work?
- Will the SD adapter work with EyeFi cards, to effectivelly give you a way to use WiFi to copy at least photo content from the iPad to a PC or website?
- Will you ba able to copy content OFF the iPad onto SD or USB using the relative adapter? The iWork apps could benefit with an easy way to export documents by saving them to a USB thumb drive.

It would be nice if the SD card was recognised as extended storage, especially by itunes.

So you can actually load content onto one.

that would be incredible! A few 16GB SD cards would hold a great many movies.

I suspect you can read the cards but not write on them
