Is it possible that the iPad writes onto the flash "storage" memory when the onboard memory (256??) is too small for the task at hand - a virtual memory approach ??

If not, might there be a firmware update that could enable vm?

If the flash is MLC there could be a problem with life cycles - much less of an issue if the flash is SLC as it has far greater cycle life.

Don't quote, but I do not believe so because the iPhone and iPod touch does not use the flash memory as virtual memory (because jailbreakers would not need to develop a hack that would make it so that it does if it already does).
