Will the iPad output video to a TV.

For example, if I rent a movie through iTunes, could I then hook it into my TV and watch it on the bigger screen?

If I can, then I guess I'll have no more use for Apple TV. Hopefully then eBay can let me recoup some of the cash I spent on the iPad itself. Lol.

You can do this, but you could also do it with a desktop or laptop computer ... this seems like a stretch. The Apple TV is geared toward use on a TV with a 10-foot interface. I don't see much overlap there. The bigger competition for Apple TV is running Boxee on a desktop or laptop.

Yes the iPad will output video to your TV via the Apple component AV cable. I have been renting and purchasing movies on iTunes and watching them on my TV. The picture quality is great.

For whatever stupid reason, the ipad does not output HD, so it I'll downsample it to 480i.
