Called my local Apple store last night (I put my name on the waiting list 5/18), and was told I was No. 83 in the que. Does anyone know with certainty if this refers to an overall list, or this specific the the model I want (16GB 3G)?

1st come 1st served, but depends what you mean.

Where are you? Have you pre-ordered, are you turning up at a store to try and pick one up?

You have no replies because no-one knows what you are on about..

clarification

Sorry, I thought I was clear when I wrote, but maybe not so much as I read it back.

I put my name on the waiting list at the Apple store for a 16GB 3G model. After three days, I called to try and get an idea how long it would take for the iPads to come in. I was told I was no. 83 on the waiting list, meaning there were 82 people ahead of me that would have the right to buy it ahead of me. I started thinking after I made the call, does 83 mean I am 83rd overall or does it mean I am 83rd in line to buy my model, the 16GB 3G. Obviously it makes a big difference in the wait time.

Also, to be clear, I have not paid for one, I just gave them my email, and they email me when my gets in. I believe I have to close the following day to come in purchase.

thanks

Well, that really wasn't the response I was looking for. I have my own reason for ordering at the store and picking it up there.

Now, if someone has expereince with the que and what the number represents, that would be terrific

thanks in advance

Apparently you are not afraid to call -- Call them again and ask. There is no way for us to determine if you are 80+ out for all Ipad's --- or 80+ out for just the model you selected.

I had to wait almost two days on the reserve list to get a 643G last week -- I put my name on the list today for a 16 as well.

Note - if you are a business customer you may find that your order/name/position filters to the TOP.
