iPad wallpaper bottom darkening

Iv noticed that when you set a wallpaper on the iPad it automatically darkens the bottom of the image, try it you'll see what I mean, first look at an image in the photo app then go into settings and try and look at it when u try to set it as a wallpaper it darkens the bottom.

Kind of annoying... Wish you could stop that from happening.. Only just noticed now since I put a new light wallpaper on
