iPAD WiFi and Wireless Router issues

As a lot of people are I too am having iPad wireless issues...
My ipad works great on a few other wifi hot spots such as Panera and my work so I know it's only my home wifi. It worked great for about a week, then all of a sudden it kept dropping... now NOTHING.
I am using a D-Link DIR 615 and I followed Apples recommendation and tried to update the makers FIRMWARE (Way too many issues)

I am willing to just purchase a new one! Can anyone recommend a wireless router that will work out of the box with iPad, PS3 and Wii?
PLEASE HELP!!!!

WILL APPLE COME OUT WITH THEIR OWN FIRMWARE UPDATE???

What to do?
 
Apple has acknowledge the problem so I'm sure they are working on a firmware update. Problem is they could release it tomorrow or in two months -- look how long it took them to resolve the 27" iMac screen issue. But probably sooner rather than later b/c they don't need bad press on how their new $500-$829 device doesn't play well with WiFi.

If you were going to buy another router than an Airport express or extreme would be the way to go, depending on what features you need.
 
I have a Dlink DIR 685 and giving my iPad a static ip address fixed the problem and it now works perfectly using WPA2 and 802.11 N

Only problem is, when he goes out he'll have to reconfig WiFi on the iPad, which is a PITA if you use public WiFi often.

Linksys WRT54G V2 is the best router ever. Works with everything.

you tell the router to assign a static ip address via DHCP reservation.

So whenever you are home your iPad gets the same ip address everytime, this fixes the forgetting password and wifi dropping issues.

When you are out an about your iPad can still connect to a public Wifi spot and have it assign an ip address as it normally would.
 
I have a 16W that I've had since launch. Zero wifi issues on it. I got a 32W a few days ago, and I've had multiple wifi issues on it. Dropped signal, re-sign in, freezing. Both are on the same (wap) router.

I took the 32W back to the Apple store this morning and it dropped their signal once right in front of the "genius"! Needles to say, they replaced it on the spot. The new one works perfectly so far :D
 
My iPad works fine at home and at one our offices at work. I went to another office, and tried for two days to get WiFi working on that wireless router and had no luck. Suddenly it began working yesterday without me changing anything. I occasionally do need to use it in the second office, so I hope they get this fixed sooner rather than later.
 
I guess I'll either try a return (but now that Apple has addressed it) they prob won't return it... Or I'll buy an Airpot Extreme... THANKS!
I hope Apple can fix this with a Firmware update VERY SOON!
 
Send it back and get a extreme. It worked with me. I had a linksys 54g and it wouldn't work with my first two ipads, the extreme has been perfect so far.
 
Apple must love that people are addressing the shortcomings of the iPad by purchasing yet another Apple product. Am I only the only one who sees something wrong with this logic?
 
OK, couldn't stand the wifi dropping in and out so I went and got an Airport Extreme. Looks pretty stable and fast so far.....

Yes, Steve just got some more of my hard earned....:eek:
 
Im waiting for firmware to because ive got the same router (dir-615) but i havnt tried to mess with static yet. It does get super annoying having type in a passwprd every time you turn the ipad on though

Well that's how it started for me... First 3-4 days were perfect...then I had to keep typing password... then NOTHING. Now I sit right next to my wireless with the ipad and log in and it lasts about 3 seconds then drops.
If it takes Apple a long time to fix with FIRMWARE I'll be forced to buy a new router or try to return the ipad and re-set everything up.
With itunes backing it all up it's not that big a deal to re-install everything (which is the genius of apple).

I guess this is what happens when you buy first gen. :(
 
Visiting in NY here and my 16W, model MB292LL, has been far more stable on my parent's G connection vs the N connection on their Netgear router.

On a side note I'm going to miss this 10-12mb cable connection when I get back to FL lol
 
I am using D-Link DIR825 using N on both bands 2.4Ghz and 5.8Ghz. They are working perfectly. I have heard some one said his N only work within a room or two away from the base. I don't see any of that issue. I am all over the house without any issue. I was able to enjoy the backyard 500 ft away from the base without any issue. The coverage of 5.8ghz is not as far as 2.4Ghz though. But you get better speed with 5.8.
 
I have had really slow wifi issues on my 64GB 3G iPad, mainly when trying to view YouTube or other streaming video. Just tried marcello's suggestion of a fixed IP via the DCHP of my router and it worked perfectly. YouTube now streaming flawlessly. Thank you so much! Been searching for a fix for days.
