If you use an iPad with iPhone Apps that have been modified to use the retina display (more pixel graphics), Will the app look better in 2X mode?

Unfortunately no, unless Apple releases a minor update to the iPad that allows this to happen. As a matter of fact, any app that has a minimum requirement of iOS 4 won't run on the iPad at all until it gets the iOS 4 update in the fall. However, I doubt there will be too many apps that absolutely require iOS 4.

Unfortunately, I know this for sure. Currently the ipad does not take advantage of any of the retina-display related features, with one exception. It does seem to use the higher-resolution launcher screen, but that's only for the time it takes for the app to take over drawing to the screen.
