iPad with iPod speaker system ?

Is/Will there be a way to use iPad with an iPod designed speaker dock ? I have bought a great Bose Sounddock Portable, but worried that maybe my 'big iPod' may not work... they have the same 30-pin connector, but it is much bigger.

You just need to file the iPad down to fit in the Bose dock.

Maybe an adapter will be made available, but it would need to be a pretty substantial sized adapter to support the iPads size and weight, and wouldn't want it to damage the iPad or the Bose Sound Dock.
