iPad with no messages etc but app and iTunes

I have an iPad that I want to use, but although I'll have to sign in to get apps from my AppleID, and my iTunes store purchases, I don't want messages, contacts, facetime, mail, or anything on, its just for media really.

I want prime and Netflix and iTunes on. But I don't want ability to just be able to toggle back on my messages and download and see them.

Is this something that can be done? It'll be potentially used by all family at home, so don't want my messages and emails coming on that iPad.

Well, one way to do this is with the Guided Access feature of iOS. What it does is allow you to lock a user into one application (say, Safari, so that a family member can watch Netflix); the user can't get out of that jail without a successful Face ID or passcode.

Another, potentially better solution would be to create an additional Apple ID as new, and then connect that Apple ID to your real Apple ID as though it were a family member. Then, because Family Sharing allows you to share content and apps with this phantom family member, you can have the iPad signed into this phantom account but not have any access to all of the personal communication of your real Apple ID - no messages or email or Facetime, etc.

Definitely set this up via Family Sharing. Sharing your account credentials with others has never been a clever idea and will cause issues.

Wish had got this info earlier....just set it all up and found that you can enable content restrictions, and then not allow account changes. I've literally downloaded Tens of Gb onto it.

Can also switch off facetime app, and others, and you then see your AppleID iCloud account greyed out and also messages app etc.

It's just for basic media watching really, didn't think I should have set up a new account and added, is there a limites number to family accounts?

Would I just need a new email for the phantom new family member? Is this all that is required? Can't remember how did it for kids all those years ago

You can have up to six people in Family Sharing (yourself plus five other Apple IDs). It's been ages since I've set up an Apple ID myself, but I don't think you need a unique email account to get it set up - you'll get a unique Apple-provided iCloud email account during the process.

Thanks should have done this. It seems that no access is allowed on the iPad to my AppleID, and facetime app isn't there, and no settings for it. Also messages is greyed out and would need content restrictions turned off.

Got all the media on now, will try once watched or ready to now.

All this could be done if Apple added profiles to iPad's....
