iPad iPad with wired Xbox controller

I have an elite series 2 controller and an M1 iPad.

Should I be able to connect the controller to the iPad via USB C and it work?

I connect it, but no “game controllers” option appears in settings.

I don’t want to pair it via BT as the controller is already paired to my Mac via BT.

I’ve tried connecting via USB as well but it didn’t work.

I think for the iPad, controllers need to be connected via BT. I ended up just buying another Xbox controller while they were on sale last year ($35 iirc).

Bluetooth only I believe is the only way
