I've converted an AVI (DIVX) file through numerous programs to .MP4/iPad format. ITunes recognized the movie, and copies it to my iPad. However, I can not find it any where on my iPad. Not in the "Videos" app or in the iPod app. What am I doing wrong?

Note: I've used AirVideo which is good but sometimes it stammers/audio video out of sync. I made sure the proper ports were open for my Mac Pro on my local WiFi. I'm attempting to use OPlayer now but it takes forever to transfer a movie via WiFi.

Try using handbrake. Works for me when converting Divx avi to m4v.

I believe that the iPad does not support the DIVX codec.

I know, but you can convert DIVX AVI files to iPad format. I've used the correct programs in doing so, and copied the converted .mp4 to the iPad, but then it doesn't show up in Videos or iTunes on the iPad.

Thanks! I'll give it a go :)

Update, I used OPlayer HD to copy the exact .MP4 that wouldn't show on my iPad when copied through iTunes, and it played perfectly. I wonder where it goes when iTunes clearly shows it as copied onto the device but can be found NO WHERE. Very strange.

iTunes may not recognize your files as "movie". Be sure to set the media type. Still, Handbrake has not failed me yet. Maybe because the .m4v files are always recognized as a video as compared to the generic .mp4.

Invest in Air Video, one of the best applications for the iPad and iPhone.

Done :)

Didn't think of that, great idea. Next time I'll make sure.

Try making a playlist with your videos in it, then try syncing the playlist.

And ditto for you, I'll try that as well.

Thanks guys! Hope you're all having a good weekend.
