I know iPadOS 13 isn't out yet. But for those who have been testing it on an iPad mini 4, how is the performance (when compared to iOS 12 on the iPad mini 4)?

I'm a little wary of iPadOS 13 on the mini 4 given that all other A8-based devices (excluding the iPad Air 2, the iPad mini 4, and the fourth gen Apple TV) were left out of the iOS/iPadOS/tvOS 13 party. I'd imagine the 2GB of RAM on the A8-based devices that did get to 13 had everything to do with it. All the same, I'd imagine the experience will likely suck and/or these devices don't have too much longer in terms of iPadOS/tvOS support left in them...

Yes, it's the RAM that is the issue. On our 2 GB A9 (iPhone SE) and 3 GB A10 (iPhone 7 Plus), iOS 13 is totally fine. Doesn't seem slower than iOS 12.4 in actual usage. (I haven't tested our 2 GB A8X devices much yet (iPad Air 2), but for the brief time I tried it, it was also OK.)

Basically, while I think the older 2 GB iDevices are starting to lag a bit, I don't think iOS 13 is noticeably worse overall than iOS 12.4. Thus, if you're OK with iOS 12 speed on your mini 4, you'd probably be OK with iOS 13 speed on your mini 4 too, although I too would be interested in the experiences of those who have tested this specific model.

Absolutely fine on my iPad Mini 4, the performance seems very comparable to iOS12.4. If anything, iOS13 is maybe a little quicker and smoother. I've upgraded older devices in the past and immediately regretted it - no such concerns this time. It works fine on an iPad Mini 4.

Glad to hear. I will certainly be curious as to which version of iPadOS 13 actually launches for the iPad on the first go. Seems like they'll jump directly to 13.1. Which is great because the iPadOS 13.0 Public Betas were alarmingly buggy for being so close to release.
