iPadOS 14 doesn’t allow widgets on the homescreen?

I can’t find an image on Apple’s site of widgets on the homescreen, just widgets in the Today View in landscape. Can we not add widgets to the homescreen as well?

The keynote intro for the iPadOS segment does mention "everything in iOS 14, plus new iPad-only..." so I would imagine they'll be available in portrait-orientation mode, as well.

doesn’t seem to be any way of adding widgets to the portrait view, I’m running 14 on my iPad Pro 12.9 2018 3rd gen.

Nope doesn’t work, and Rene Ritchie says that’s intentional.
