Have been watching a few vids on iOS 14 and iPadOS 14, and have been quite surprised how many new features of iOS 14 have been left out of iPadOS 14.

I can’t help but think this is primarily to separate iOS and iPadOS, I feel going forward iOS is going to be more focused on quickly finding information you need at a glance and will change dramatically over the next 5 years, whereas iPadOS is going to to just keep developing from what was iOS.

I want to make the switch from a MacBook Pro over to an iPad Pro but would really like the ability to install 3rd Party applications...do you think this latest update might pave the way for that to happen in the future, or do you think the iPad will always be limited to the App Store?

Of course iPad software will be provided via the App Store. It contains plenty third party apps.

Yeah, I was very surprised they left the widgets only in the sidebar on iPad, but I think that is intentional to separate the two OS’s from each other, this is why I think iPadOS going forward will be built on the foundation of the original iOS, and won’t really sway much from that in terms of widgets etc...

By third party I mean software which is available only from a website rather than the Mac App Store..
