I'd like to try out the public beta on my new M1 12.9, but after reading posts about earlier betas of iPadOS 15 and heat issues, I'm concerned about damaging my iPad. (Am I completely insane, or just somewhat?)

Also read about Private Relay slowing down Safari.

Anyone here installed the Public Beta (nothing earlier) who can tell us whether the PB seems good enough?

I don't do anything mission critical with my 12.9. Just don't want to see smoke coming out of it, or spontaneous combustion.

Thanks!

I’ve installed it earlier today on my 2020 11” iPad Pro but not on my new M1 12.9”

so far no major issues. Twitter crashed at some point but that was it

I installed PB1 on my 12.9 M1 iPad Pro an hour ago, so far no issues and doesn’t feel any hotter than before. Did a bit of doodling in Procreate and processed a RAW image file in Affinity Photo.

Running it on my 12.9 M1 no issues at all so far, installed last night… used all day a couple of WebEx calls and a Teams call… watched a little YouTube, email, messaging… general stuff :)

It is not a good idea to put beta on a device unless a) It is a backup device b) You are comfortable with being able to revert back to iPadOS 14 if needed c) You are willing to assume the risk of apps not working as they should at times, your iPad potentially using more battery or getting hotter than normal at times etc.
