Well well well, it looks like everything we've been complaining about has slowly been implemented now, yet one feature I still been asking and hasn't been confirmed was simultaneous audio playback! When I saw audio and video as a headline feature they had me in suspense! Definitely disappointed...

I appreciate Apple for implementing all the features we (more technical users) have been asking for over the years... a real pointer, better window management, a menu bar... hopefully other users who can't manage more than one window at a time doesn't ruin this experience... Maybe Apple does listen, maybe it's taking this long because others keep drowning out our complaints, or maybe they're coming to a realization that they already had something good, which they have been using since forever.

Tech will eventually get advanced as macOS, that's the only way forward...

Can't wait to find out that simultaneous playback is a feature!

During setup there's a question for if you want your iPad to be single window or multitasking focused, so I imagine those folks will still be fine.

In Settting- Multitasking and Gestures you choose between full screen apps, windowed apps and Stage manager. It's working well on my iPad Pro 11 M2, drag from the upper left corner to resize the window, drag a little down from the top to get the menu, and it's easy to arrange them.

Can anyone confirm that the multiple audio support allows me to have a YouTube video’s audio playing on my external monitor simultaneously with my game audio, which is being played on my iPad screen?

This is funny, I had that exact same reaction when I saw that slide... held my breath, hoping that there would be some indication that multiple simultaneous audio would be supported. I guess it's not reasonable to expect something relatively small like this to make the cut of features that is specifically called out, but I'm still hopeful that it will be on the list of "...and many other features that we didn't have time to mention."

EDIT : Ok I misreading I thought Simultaneous audio was finally here... This update is so disapointing in almost everything and no simultaneous audio is just adding the insult to the absurdity. How you can say the iPad is a multi-tasking device when a simple feature like that is not there when Windows 95 could do it 30 years ago?

Yes, it's really quite a silly omission, and it harms the user experience... very annoying to be reading news in bed while listening to music, and the music is stopped because some website has a media player of some sort that seizes control of the solitary audio stream (even if nothing is actually playing), or when I check my Ring cameras.

Simultaneous audio still not working is big omission, but what else do you find so disappointing?

No clamshell mode when connecting to an external monitor is a huge bummer for me. I don't want to use the iPad as a second screen when connected and I don't have space for that on my desk. I just want to use it on external monitor while my iPad is closed in his smart cover. For me, it would change everything. But for like it is now, it's still not very useful to use on an external monitor for me, with all my icons and control center are still in the iPad itself.

The new multi-tasking stuff is good but honnestly, I don't know why everybody wanted this so much because on a 11' screen, its too small for that kind of stuff for me and I just reverted on the single window mode option in less than a day for when I'm using the iPad itself.

I just installed it and I’m disappointed. I assume visionOS is no different here.

Wtf Apple, ANOTHER YEAR of waiting. And that’s assuming they realized that hearing audio from any source is a necessity and a part of multitasking in productivity and entertainment (etc etc all the reasons mentioned years before).

They have been annoying me a lot lately with their decisions and lack of action.

And when they finally implement it, they better not do it the “Apple”, think different way, only to realize the normal way was already perfect. Look at iPadOS for example, how many multitasking features have we had since the beginning only to go back to something like macOS.

So they better not half ass it or automate it like focusing on the main audio source and having other audio fade back a bit or use Spatial Audio unnecessarily or require devs to implement it. That was annoying as f with stage manager letting Apple assume how it should automate us and our workflows
