Just looking for some perspective on this. I know and agree that an iPad can replace your computer. I’ve done it. However, my problem is whenever I use a mouse and keyboard, even the Magic Keyboard, the iPad experience deteriorates. Using a keyboard isn’t an issue. That is still great, but using any type of mouse or trackpad is clunky.

The point of this discussion, is it just me or have I never adjusted to it? I love the trackpad experience on the MacBook. That is extremely smooth and quick. Maybe using touch is just that much better than mouse so it feels bad when you go away from it?

“Mostly” it works fine for me, though occasionally something won’t respond properly to a click where touching the item works fine. YouTube app is pretty notorious about this but it happens in Safari as well. I just chalk it up to “This app/page is optimized for finger” so I use a finger when needed.

I use a mouse on a 12.9 pro gen 3. It works quite well, so I miss the mouse when I'm not at the table.
When I tried the mouse with the gen 2 it was as you decribe.
It seems that,The newer the device, then better the doodads work.
I do think that the apple mouse is more easily dioriented by non uniform shading on surfaces.
