It was unclear but does anyone know if iPadOS 14 will support widgets displayed all throughout the home screen? As opposed to the current iPadOS 13 functionality where all widgets are confined only to the Today view on the side and you have to scroll through the side pane to access all widgets. A perfect world for me is a home screen with just widgets scattered throughout.

I think I'd like that too: dock + screen 1 full of widgets + screen 2 more apps

Currently it doesn't. They are still in their dedicated space which you can choose to lock on screen or not. They can't be co-mingled with apps.

How do you know?

I have the beta running and I can only see the widgets on the left side just like the today view in iOS 13. I can't move them over to where all the app icons are. I hope this is a beta 1 limitation. Especially since on the iPhone they can be integrated with the app icons.

Thanks for confirming. But damn this was the only feature I wanted out of all WWDC. Here’s to hoping it’s a beta 1 limitation too. Sucks iOS is getting the feature and not iPadOS :(

From what they said the same things you can do on iPhone you should be able to do on the iPad

Yes it works now. Running it myself

I’m pretty sure it’s a beta 1 bug since Apple stated that it would work the same on iPhone and iPad.
