I’m thinking about installing iOS15 public beta on my iPad Mini 5. Has anyone done this yet? Is it stable? Is battery life good?

(1) Yes.
(2) Dev previews 1, 2 and 2.5 have been good... no way to know what the future will bring.
(3) Decent... but that, too, can change from beta to beta.

Yep, have installed it. Stable yes, not many issues that i've discovered. All apps worked, games worked and streaming videos is also just fine.

at-least on my mini 5, battery has taken a hit but then, i now work from home all the time so charger is always closeby.

the only feature that i have found super useful is quick notes; i do use my mini as notepad for official work and meeting minutes, etc. and quick notes is just the thing i needed when i am connected on the meeting and require something to note it down.

rest all, is just as previous ios; widgets and memoji's are really gimmicks and not very useful to me.

Private relay hasn't worked for me at-least, so will try next beta and see if that works

Everyone,

Thanks for the replies. I‘m going to take the plunge and install the beta tonight when I get home. I’ll let everyone know how it goes.

Why would you want to? It’s hardly worth the trouble. Some with iPad pros can’t even charge their devices now. Or go back to ios14.

My iPad Pro is my primary tablet, so I would never install a beta OS on it. I would also never install a beta to my iPhone. But as I do every year, I want to check out the latest OS and play with it some before the final version is released. If it messes up the Mini 5 too much, I’ll revert it back to iPadOS 14.

Public beta 2 up and running on iPad Mini 5. No noticeable problems yet, and it seems to be stable.

Relay seems to be flakey occasionally causing long load times or pages not loading at all in Safari. UI is awful now. The icon placement is too restricted not the Home Screen so I have moved all to the App Library. Widgets are tiny, hard to read and more or less useless when using it both in Portrait Mode or Horizontal. Performance seems to be fine, as well as battery life.

I have it running on Mini 5. Very few issues. Works well. I agree with someone who said the changes are more large iPad oriented, but App Library is a winner for any device. Thank goodness.
I can’t wait to put the beta on my iPP 12.9”.
