Just an open discussion on the positive experiences and negitive experiences of iPadOS 26.1

So I just updated and my M1 IPP 5th Gen 13 is MUCH better in Safari now.. to the point it completely removed my desire for upgrading to an M4/M5 iPad Pro

The text of notes in Quick Notes overlapping with the toolbar: this is mostly fixed (but if you have Safari open you might still see problems). But the Quick Notes toolbar still consumes too much of the Note window.

Text in Safari’s Reader mode still overlaps the status bar on my iPad A16 when held in portrait orientation 🤨

I’m a bit lost now that command H hides the app now, how do I go to to the home screen from the keyboard? I love that this is more aligned with macOS, but I think Command + Mission Control key (or whatever it’s called, above the 3) should show desktop like macOS.

wdym?

26.0.1 was so bad battery-wise on both my iPad and iPhone that I took the plunge and installed the betas a couple of weeks ago. 26.1 has been much better both battery and performance-wise.

When using an external keyboard, Command H used to take you to the Home Screen. Now it hides the app (similar to macOS).
Still takes me to the Home Screen? I’m using the Stage Manager mode, fwiw.

iPadOS 26.1 RC was much better than 26.0 on my mini7

Going to GM

might wait for 26.1 GM feedback on my 17pro before updating for a day or two because 26.0 has been fine on that device for me

For me, multi window been acting weird after 26.1 when external display is connected. My window would auto rearrange and go off screen, and opening one app the other app on the screen would fly away for some reason. I need to downgrade…

I have tinted selected, instead of clear, and this is what it looks like:

There are all these small annoyances. Like the new “recently saved” tab in safari. Takes up heaps of space and there is no way to get rid of it. Same with the number of links listing on bookmark folders.

Is apple going to add every single feature to make things “easier” or clearer for a cohort that doesn’t really exist?

Try Fn+H, works both on iPads and on Macs.

New (seeming) bug I just encountered on iPhone 13 with 26.1 - when I have a picture open in landscape and I take a screen grab of it (vol up + power) then click the "markup" marker icon to draw a highlight/circle something, the image gets shrunk inwards so it's far smaller than the fullscreen image I grabbed, which makes it a lot harder to draw the marker on the part of the image I'm after. I don't recall this happening in 18.x
