Why is every iPad on craigslist either selling for retail value or more than retail value? Last I checked, iPads were readily available at my local apple store. I was hoping to get a deal on a cheaper used one. Anyone else come across this and know why this is the trend?

The sellers on Craigslist's just haven't realized that the stock issue for iPads has eased and people don't need to pay more than retail for a used device anymore. There are probably a few buyers who haven't realized that either. I'd give it a few more weeks before reality sets in and the Craigslist prices come down.

That being said, I think iPads will continue to have a strong resale value--just not above retail anymore. :)

They are in demand, mine is for sale 32g wifi with AppleCare for 599.00 I am not rushing to sell at all mine.

Remember those prices will not have a sales tax tacked on so you save whatever that is for your state. Still yea, I'd rather get one from a store and have a few weeks return window to work with.

I think the demand will be up there for quite awhile. its been a few weeks since they were in stock at both BestBuy and Apple here in Philadelphia.

Plus, Christmas is just a few months away, if you think prices on CL and ebay are ridiculous now....

From what I'm reading the demand will continue to stay strong but the stock issue is likely to take another nose dive. Anyone else hearing this?

I think it varies by area, I picked up my wifes 16Gb wifi iPad for $440, and just got my 32GB Wifi for $500. People are always looking to cap on hig demand items. You can usually negotiate and talk them down, I do it all the time it all depends on how bad they need the cash. Think e iPad prices were crazy should see the iP4!

You are correct that these sellers seem to be crazy but they may be crazy like a fox.

I notice on eBay & Amazon that "Sellers" very often have higher prices on a wide variety of items & I think to myself, "WTF?"

But I figure they are gambling on the one or two clueless shoppers who, for reasons I can not understand, will bite & buy without hesitation.

As the saying goes, "Theres a sucker born every minute..."

At least these are iPads that we are talking about, and they are still in high demand. Go to ebay and look at the the MacBook Air's that are for sale. It's long over due for a upgrade, and there's very little demand. But there are so many buy-it-now prices that are higher than the Apple store refurbished price. Go figure!
