New boss has said plant needs a mobile device for inventory lookup and functions. He suggested a surface pro, iPad, or laptop. Company or plant where I work does not use surface pro but iPads for techs, parts sales, and the like so I doubt we would go that direction. But for inventory functions which iPad or Mac would be best? I think a iPad would be a better choice than a MacBook Air for inventory but I could be wrong. Perhaps the standard iPad would be better or perhaps the air or mini would be better? One needs to lookup parts, connect to inventory system and the like. Anyone who has experience in inventory please comment.

The word “system” is key because the hardware needs to work with the expensive inventory management software. One of the most common solutions involves using a Zebra integrated brick and gun computer. You should talk with your solutions provider on what hardware works best.
