Are people actually paying premium for iPads like the PS3 when it launched?

I have an extra one that I'm probably going to take back. It's not really worth it to sell it on eBay when the 32GB is going for around $700 because people are offering free overnight shipping and the cost of that on top of sales tax I had to pay doesn't make it worth it.

Yeah, now if Apple released a game console then I think things would be different.

Lazy snobs? Coz we live abroad? How completely judgmental of you. You're obviously a popular person aren't you :)

I've had a brief look earlier today. Being that I live in Australia it doesn't release here until late April at the earliest so I was considering buying one from eBay.

Overall the majority that I looked at weren't that overpriced. There was the random seller wanting $1200 for a 64GB but could also see plenty of 16GB models going for the $600 range, which although being higher than in a retail store in the States, isn't totally unreasonable for Australia as we always get jacked up prices when things first drop.

I'll wait til we get closer to the release and have some definite Australian release prices and if I can swing a deal through eBay then the $60 postage might be worth it. I just wish they'd hurry up and give us a date/price list for down here!!

They're alright.

I sold a 16GB for $666 to somebody in Singapore.
It looks like I will lose about $10 in the shipping, because I charged $30 for international, and USPS says shipping to Singapore is $40.

But it's still a decent $100+ profit.

Not like they were with some game launches or the iPhone.
This is the first time I've ever bought a product specifically to sell it. A little disappointed, but I guess I can't complain too much that I'm not getting enough free money.

I bought two extras for eBay...a 16 GB and a 64GB (actually I had bought a 16, 32, and 64 and was going to keep the 16 but decided on the 32). I'll see what happens...if I can make $100 profit on each, it's worth it, why not...it's $200 for maybe 60 minutes total of my time (taking pictures, putting up the auctions, going to USPS to mail).

It's judgmental of you, not me ;). I did not mean to say that all foreigners are snobs. I just meant to say that those snobs who live abroad might do this. Snobs in USA do not have any reasons to use eBay. All stores have plenty of stock even today.

Show off, check. Lazy, no. I went for a run this morning, I feel I deserve an iPad! Lol. My comment was as tongue in cheek as yours

If anyone is interested in finding a buyer quickly throw a link up in here to your item. I'm still considering buying...

Flipping iPad on eBay?

I'm seeing 16GB iPads being sold for $600 on ebay. Whos buying these things?

Don't forget that both eBay and PayPal will take their pound of flesh also. I sold my iPhone 2G last week and between the two of them that was about 10% gone.

So if a new auction site came up that didnt charge would it be more popular? Always though of this.

Yea, I know. I need to get enough to cover the eBay fees, Paypal fees, and shipping...plus make a profit.

The date still hasn't been released. There is speculation that it will be April 24th, but it's just a rumor.

To order online? Yea...but if you go buy one in person tomorrow, probably still possible to get it up on eBay. If all else fails, you can always return it unopened to where you bought it from.
