I hadn't seen any info on this particular spec yet, but I wonder if iPhone 11 will have WiFi 6 (ax). I just got a Note+ (I always rock two phones) and it has WiFi 6. The new iPads too.

Since Apple is part of the IEEE consortium / WiFi alliance, it stands to see that Apple will soon deploy devices with the IEEE 802.11ax standard.

Apple says the new wireless standard will be coming but then I am not currently complaining with my current 802.11ac router and devices - they work very quick for my needs....

IEEE 802.11ax is more for handling larger number of users on a single router and my home does not need that feature - the number of users is very manageable.

But where I work the Cisco WAP are stressed to the max with 20-25 users competing for a single AP.

Its never easy to predict Apple. Sometimes they come out with a new spec quickly, and sometimes they hold off - like when they released a 2G phone while everyone else already had 3G out.

Wifi 6 won't magically make your internet faster.

It does if you have access to high speed internet, like FIOS or business class.
1. Do you have a WiFi 6 router?
2. Do you even have an ISP with higher than a gigabit speed? WiFi AC can still handle gigabit speed just fine.
3. Is the WAN port on your router even a gigabit port?

As some has mentioned, WiFi 6 is mostly about handling congestion and connected devices, useful for WiFi in crowded places like offices, hotels, or events.

Wifi 6 would be good if you have a Wifi 6 router and other Apple devices with Wifi 6. It would lower the latency on mirroring/Airplay, and hugely speed up wireless file transfers. And hugely speed up time machine if you have a SSD connected to the router.

But having just the iPhone with Wifi 6 isn't going to do anything, unless you have have something like Verizon 1gb plan at home.

Im happy with my Apple AC band router and AC enabled devices.
All perfectly fine running multiple devices off one high speed (100Mbs) stream....
