Hello everyone,

as you can tell by the title of this thread, I am having an issue with image retention. Here is the whole story. In April 2021 (shortly after updating to iOS 14.5), I noticed that things like the battery icon, Wi-Fi symbol, signal bars and the time started ghosting in. I turned off my phone for a few hours, because I had thought it would resolve the issue. After the time went by, I turned on the phone and used it for a few minutes, and the same thing continued to happen. A few days later, it became worse. The white bar at the bottom of the screen, the emoji symbol and the microphone started ghosting in as well. I had to wait for another three weeks so I could take the phone to my local Apple Store due to lockdown. After the three weeks had gone by, I went to the Apple Store and they replaced the display for free. And everything was fine… for about a month. A month later, the same thing started happening again. I called the Apple Support, they told me to bring in the phone. I went there again, and they gave me a new one. That was on a Monday. On Saturday, during the same week, the same thing started happening… I am not even joking. I wish I was. So, I am dealing with this issue for the third time in three months and I do not know what to do. I have pictures of the issue and it looks really bad.

Any advice would be much appreciated.

Best regards,
Arman

Only time I've ever seen image retention on an oled iPhone is display models at stores with brightness left on full. Not sure what anyone here can help you with as Apple is your only option for warranty repair. Considering you've had this issue with multiple displays I'd say your issue is isolated to you and however your phone is used as there hasn't been a lot of threads on his forum of image retention on oled iPhones..

This is a regular iPhone 11. Not an 11 Pro. Plus, I really take care of my phone. So I don’t understand why this is happening. The brightness isn’t on full either.

Sorry, didn't realize it was an 11 (from photo looked like 11Pro and I overlooked it in the title). LCD is even less common to have image retention so not sure how it could happen in such a short time. Maybe you can convince Apple to replace the entire phone with a refurbished unit since it's an on going issue (from your post it's not clear if they have already done this). If it is a completely different unit, not sure what your next step should be but I'd let Apple figure it out.

I honestly don’t understand. It’s honestly making me upset because I did spend a lot on this phone. But yes, they did give me a refurbished unit. And not even a whole week later, the retention appeared again. It always starts with the status bar.
