The camera improvements seem pretty substantial and the A13 chip sounds like a beast. I don't understand people that expect a revolutionary new product every single year. Incremental improvements are expected when you stick to a yearly release cycle for such a complex product.

If the camera is truely great then it’s what i wanted...i badly wanted night mode and least we have it. 5 hours better battery life? Face ID that will work on a table? Both certainly welcomed upgrades but no it’s not a major upgrade like next year will be.
Did they actually confirm that FaceID is being improved? I was only half watching by that point.

Curious, why pissed? All the speculation was pretty much correct, except the battery life is longer than expected. We all pretty much knew what was going to be announced

This is my feeling as well. With a 3 month old, this new camera means everything to me.

As an auditor that is forever traveling, the improved battery and Face ID means everything to me.

If I was coming from an iPhone XS Max, this upgrade wouldn't be super impressive. However, I have been primarily using the Pixel 3 XL for the last few months. While the camera on it is stupendous, I can't wait to fully jump back into the Apple ecosystem with the Pro Max.

^Pretty much

After today’s keynote, I’m fairly certain that product development cycles and video/marketing development cycles at Apple, for a given product roughly take the same amount of time and effort. Sad.

The only change that actually showed up that is of any interest to me is the improved angle of view for the FaceID camera. My Max already has far more battery capacity than I use, and the camera is just fine, thanks.

There's a little blurb near the bottom of the web page for the 11 Pro phones that cites a few improvements (speed, distance, angles).

Gonna upgrade from an 8+ to a Pro Max.

Want an OLED. Everything else is a super bonus. I know 2020 is going to give us a probable design refresh but other major updates (ones that don't have people stamping their feet with petulance over lack of progression). But if I keep waiting for the next big thing, I'll never own the next big thing.

I'm with o2. Contract about to end. Wondering if jump to Sky (I'm a VIP customer) or perhaps just buy the phone directly for the App Store and just get a nice cheap tariff. Got until Friday to work it out. Unless I just wait another week or so.

They didn’t go into detail but from what i’ve seen it’s going to be improved.

Yep, the site says:

Face ID is now 30 percent faster.

It works from farther away. At more angles, too. And it’s still the most secure facial authentication in a smartphone.

I suspect a mix of an improved front camera (especially given the mention of angle) + better/faster ML ...

Slick new camera, improved display, U1 chip (likely for use with the upcoming tile-like product), faster yet __massive__ improvement to power consumption / battery life, heck even better water resistance (same IP68 but notated as 4m vs. 2m).

I'm sold :D

I’m not pissed. We all have the choice to purchase or not. Based on rumors, we all knew this most likely be an incremental upgrade.

If I was anything, it would be “irritated” that they didn’t bump the base model for storage, but that’s about it.

$$ is ready to go to get my new iPhones (wife and I, just like every year).
