I just saw this article from Wall Street Journal

"When I carried two iPhones together during a shoot, the cameras on one rubbed against the screen of another, causing some permanent scratches"

https://www.wsj.com/articles/iphone...-battery-life-weve-been-dying-for-11568714400

The camera lenses on iPhones are covered with sapphire crystal. Sapphire is harder than glass so it will scratch the screen if you allow the lenses to come into contact with it. I'm not surprised WSJ is making a big deal out of this. But, it's simple physics and is in no way Apple's fault. If Apple used regular glass for the camera lenses, people would complain those scratch too easily.
