Hello.

I just updated to 17.6 and my phone is stuck on 75%. I have tried 3 different official chargers and 2 wireless chargers and it stays on 75%

Any ideas on how to fix this issue please? I have tried a force restart with no joy unfortunately.

The phone Is In mint condition never been out of its case still looks like a new phone.

Thanks.

Cleaned the lightning port from pocket lint?
Does it say that its charging (the lightning symbol)?

What version of iOS did you update from?

Yes I checked everything was clean and still no joy. the phone detects the charger when plugged in and on wireless also but doesn't charge. It was working perfectly before the update.

Check you don’t have any kind of battery/charge optimisation enabled in Settings/Battery

I know that’s meant to be 80% but worth a look.

I disabled optimised battery charging and It's charging but slower than before. as Reverend Benny said It might be recalibrating. You guys are awesome, Apple support said for me to go to the store and the cost will be £368 to fix It lol
I know some people are going to dismiss and criticize my advice because “modern lithium batteries don’t need…”, but: try to change up until 100%, discharge it using the phone normally until 1%, then leave it charging until 100% again. You can do all of this on low power mode to avoid overheating the phone. If you do this 1 or 2 times you’ll help recalibrate your battery.

Jaysus, funny that they can estimate a cost like that without even knowing what it is.

Loads of bugfixes and enhancements aren't listed in the public release notes, things such as BMS changes.
Apple writes a little bit about it, cut and paste from the article i linked to earlier.

"* Maximum battery capacity is determined using a set of algorithms and measurements taken during use. Over time, these algorithms might be updated to provide the best estimate of maximum battery capacity."

I'd say leave it to charge, then use the phone untill its nearly drained and charge it to full again.

Edit: replied to late, @Populus suggested a similar thing to what I did.

Also keep in mind, directly after update - at least my iPhones - the phone may be hot, so charging is slowed down until the phone cools down. If that was the case, you can see it in the battery section in settings. There it reads something like "Charging was temporarily interrupted due to iPhone has to cool down".

Hello.

I Was wondering If I should enable optimised battery charging now that It's charging?

Thanks.

Once you have stopped it from charging, you can go ahead and enable Optimized Battery Charging...

For the next update, make sure the battery is charged 80% or higher...

iPhones and iPads usually get hot after installing an update so it's best to charge them after they have cooled down...

iOS updates I don't think would ever prevent a device from charging...

iPhone 7 and older don't have this message about charging stopped/paused due to high temperature... I think this may have started with iPhone X or iPhone XS and newer...

If you enable it, it won’t charge up to 100% straight away. If you want to calibrate the battery, I would leave it disabled for the next two cycles of full charge and discharge. After that, if you want, go ahead and enable it again.

Oh, so you were using the iOS 18 beta?

In case you were, or in case you want to just make a clean install of iOS 17.6, just grab a Mac and, not before backing up your data (manually if you’re on iOS 18), just plug it in and Finder will ask you if you want to restore your device with the currently signed version, which is 17.6, although I think 17.5.1 is still being signed. Just click restore and, just so you know it, it will delete EVERYTHING and perform a clean install of the latest version, 17.6.

PS: check your charger or cable, especially the cable, as they tend to wear over time and can fail.
