If you wondered how Black 12 looks IRL, here's a hands on. With the glossy finish, it looks pretty close to the iPhone 4 "Piano Black", evokes some good memories. If you could find more shots of this color, it would be much appreciated.

I'm guessing people have forgotten about the Jet Black iPhone 7 issues? It looks ace, it'll look ace for a few days...then it'll be full of scratches and marks.

I saw it yesterday in person and I can tell that is the nicest black iPhone that they ever produced by fay. The black is really beautiful, looks like it’s pearl black with a deep matte aluminum edges. I’m not a black iPhone guy but man, if I had to choose between white, red and black I would probably go for the black one, and my Apple Watch is red, that’s how nice the black one it is.

Cool, your impression really gives me some hope, and color is usually the last thing I care about. At first I was bummed with $200 increase between 11 and 12 and found the price, especially when compared to 12 Pro even less impressive.
I think I've settled for Black Mini, price closer to 11 and not as many setbacks as between 11 and 11 Pro. I'll just wait for some photo comparisons (the lens seems to be smaller) and battery tests.

Not the same thing. The Jet black 7 is a completely different material. It was a highly polished metal. It’s very similar to the original iPods. The glass back will hold up to scratches the same as every other glass model before it.

Best color BUT the white is tempting...

With a case I like more the 12 over the 12P because the camera square on the 12 is matte finish and on the 12P is glossy; with a case is what you can see of the back of the phone.

White looks very sleek too, same for the Silver on Pro. I don't think you can ever go wrong with white/black.

Has anyone tried one of those dbrand skins? I like the black color but I don't like the glossy, fingerprint-magnet back. (I also don't need a case; I merely want to prevent those ugly fingerprints.)

Actually my wife has a 7 plus 256 piano black that gets used caseless quite often and it’s held up really well. Initially it got a few scuffs but it really does look great yet. Very surprising.

I ordered a black one, but also ordered a matte black skin from Brand to cover the glossy back. My palms sweat a bit at times. I cant imagine how disgusting it'd get if I don't use a skin.

I really wanna buy the 12 Mini in black but I have some concerns about scratches. I am too deciding between black, which I love and is my fave color of this line up, and white. Will scratches on the back on glass will be very visible? Never owned a black iPhone with black glass backside. And what I am even more concerned about is the sides with the black aluminum! This deep black iPhone does look so amazing, esp. the black sides. But I have a feeling scratches on the frame will be silver and very visible. I am not a case user and maybe will have it on about 30-50% of the times maximum.

But this black just looks too stunning and you won't notice the screen to body transition, a big advantage imo. Really, really cool.

Same concern here.

From my past experience with both a black iphone 4 and white 4s, the black will show fingerprints and micro scratches much more then the white. Also experience with a black iphone 5, anodized aluminum won't scratch easily so shouldn't be to much of an issue but any ding in the metal (dropping on a corner, hitting the bottom edge of a glass desk, etc) will show bright silver and be very obvious. The biggest issue with the black iphone 5 was the polished chamfered edges wearing off and showing silver which shouldn't be an issue with the 12 since it's rounds edges.

I'm leaning white but have concerns about the fact that this years white is more of a cream color with a more bronze tone anodizing.... I need to see both in person before I decide on a color for the mini pre-order...

Love the look and feel, better than my 11 pro SG, and one reason i didn't want the 12 graphite wanted all black.
Smick as IMO.

I’ve been going back and for on whether to get the blue or black mini. Definitely leaning towards black at the moment, just looks so sleek.
