Hello everyone. Just joined here, and am a couple of days into my new iPhone 12 mini. I come from the Android world :). Anyway, I have a question regarding ringtones for this iPhone. Can you set your own custom ringtone as a default? I have one which I had downloaded for my Android. I went through steps to convert it to AAC and m4p...the format I think it says it needs.

I cannot set it as my default. How do I do so?

You should be able to do this by going to Settings and then it's under Sounds or something similar. There you can set up default ringtones.

@MainStream thanks. I know how to get to the defaults, but I meant adding one which you've downloaded and imported to the iCloud or OneDrive. Seems it doesn't let you go from there.

You need to download it to your phone as a ringtone. Then you can select it as a default ringtone.

iCloud or OneDrive won't do you any good.
You have to transfer the file to your phone as a ringtone in order to use it on your phone as a default ringtone.

iCloud and OneDrive is only good for temporary holding place so that you can ultimately transfer the file onto your phone.

Use a custom ringtone

If you created a custom ringtone in an app, like Garageband, you can sync it to your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch using iTunes for Windows or the Finder on a Mac.
  1. Connect your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch to your computer.
  2. On a PC, open iTunes for Windows. On a Mac, open the Finder.
  3. Drag and drop the ringtone to your device.

What people are missing here is that you cannot just have any file as ringtone on an iPhone. There’s a process to adding ringtones and they cannot be more than 30 seconds long

I am not going to type out the whole thing. Please check these links:

1. OS X Daily
2. Horse’s Mouth (Apple Inc).

Using these, you should get consistent and reliable results in the quickest possible timeframe than other hacks or what not.

About the 30 seconds thing, GarageBand will automatically use first 30 seconds in case the file is of a longer duration.

Also I can't get Bluetooth to work on it. It fails immediately :(. I have it paired with my ASUS ROG laptop. Anyone else having this problem?
