Reading this article below with the iPhone rumored spec release the article mentioned that the peak brightness will be 1600. I find this absolutely fantastic for outside viewing and other 10bit colour support !

I don't think the note 20 will reach that since the s20 lineup maxed out at 1200 like last year.

Load of rubbish

1 PIXEL might reach that but the whole screen won't, as proven when people tested the S20 and only a tiny fraction of the screen reached that so they could stick it in marketing.

Expect An even warmer display than this year then. Aka yellow tint.

Calling it now. Probably should go make next years thread - “ “Yellow Tint” on 12 normal ? “ that will be asked again.
I agree man! You can see it in the newest Samsung's but you can adjust it at least. Glad Samsung is making the display for the pro's, have a bad taste from BOE and there Mate 20 Pro crap. It's cheaper for a reason.

BOE actually made the good displays on Mate 20 Pro, it was LG that made the bad ones.

I had a Mate 20 Pro and it had a stunning BOE display, they are perfectly capable.

Oh and Samsung themselves might use BOE to, they seem to have been in talks and getting quotes from them:

That was the trend with Samsung devices also. Note 8 blue hue, note 9 yellow and s10plus even yellower. Blue light filter reduction they call it.

Pointless. Either way it will only be for a very small bit of time if you're standing next to the sun. My XR gets warm if the brightness is set to max for awhile, i think it's about 600 nits.

This is why i hated Samsung phones though, they advertise something like 1000 nits but even with the auto brightness disabled your phone can't get over 400 nits in ambient light even if you slide it to max. They're so scared or customers complaining of burn in and bad battery life that they wont let you adjust this setting. Google Pixel does the same thing, they max out at around 400 even if you're standing under direct sunlight.

My mate 20 pro had the BOE screen too and it was decent, it wasn't in the same league as the Mrs's Note 9 screen though.

If Samsung do team up with BOE they'll certainly have to up their game.

I am pretty sure they will be able to match Samsung, I do agree that as great as the Mate 20 Pro screen was it also didn’t top my older Note8 display to.

But I think BOE were already very close back then and for both Samsung and Apple to look into doing business with them I get the feeling they probably saw something well worth their money, probably a demo of a new panel they are planning to sell.

It seems odd to me that they would keep increasing the brightness. I always have trouble with the screen being dim enough at night so it doesn't hurt my eyes.

Seems BOE couldn't quite cut it after all.

Ahh, that’s a shame for BOE. I wonder what aspect exactly they failed in, may be the yield or power consumption?

I remember reading that OLED displays are incredibly difficult to make and require tremendous resources to get a decent yield.

Exactly. Even full brightness now is good for me in the sun until it heat throttles. One of the only times I actually need full and it's unusable due to the heat throttling. Need to work on heat dissipation more than a brighter screen.

The use of BOE on the iPhone 12 and 12 Max is making me very nervous. Do we know what device will be BOE and which will be LG?

The 12 "Pros" will be Samsung only, correct?

Like the link says in my post above, it seems BOE aren't producing screens for the 12.

It says the same here too......

That’s right. BOE failed the quality tests from Apple, so this year they will only use LG and Samsung panels. That’s good news. I hope they don’t increase the price (of what was leaked)

I’ll believe it when I see it
