Ok.

so I’ve got two iPhones 12 pro . And I’ve got an issue with brightness .

first of all : what’s off

True Tone off

white balance off

power saving management off

auto brightness off

whenever using third party apps (SimCity Buildit , Cod Mobile, Google Maps, Netflix) but sometimes even an apple apps like Apple TV , safari, the brightness dims a bit and even goes so dark so the brightness slider doesn’t make much difference .

the device goes hot of course but there’s no warning on the screen . So it’s not super hot but still unusable on a sunny day as it’s almost black screen and I like to keep my screen on a maximum brightness. That’s how I like it to run.

so my question is , because it’s a normal use of a phone , why it keep happening ? If I would knew it can happen then I wouldn’t buy an iPhone as it never happened with my previous phone (HUAWEI Mate 20 Pro) with the same apps .

there is nothing in user manual about that , that it can happen . I couldn’t find anything that would at least mention about that’s safety feature . At this point for me the phone is broken and during the sunny day (cold day around 12 Celsius) it’s completely useless

apple customer service said it’s a normal behaviour , but at the same time apple didn’t inform me as a user that it can happen.

so I think It should go online hopefully viral because apple blew me off as a user , as both iPhones are on a warranty and I was told there’s nothing You can do .

I have this issue too. iOS 15. iPhone 13. I turn my brightness all the way up with auto brightness and True Tone off. And about 10 minutes into a match the screen dims. Completely pisses me off. It’s irritating and messes my game up. I turn my brightness all the way up because that’s how I like to play! I turn auto brightness off because I want to adjust it myself while in a match. What’s the point of allowing us to have auto brightness on or off if it’s still going to dim.

Did you even read the entire post that I wrote? Because it says that it’s off

I’ve talked with them , they blew me off saying that : it is what it is and that’s how the phone works .

Well … not what I would expect from a phone for 900£ And a billion dollar company

It seems that I bought a broken phone , they know about it , they didn’t inform users that it can happen and they feel to do anything about it as it would be admitting to a mistake .

I am thinking contacting more people with the same issue and actually do something about it , like a class action lawsuit or something like that . Faulty phones . That’s it .

I get off of work in an hour and I am contacting apple about my problem. If they do anything different for me than you. I’ll update my post.

This is where I’m at right now. With support

Yes, I was told the same . It’s an expected behaviour.

So picture that:

You going to the store , you wanna buy an IPhone , you choose one and then the guy from the store says something like that:

“It’s a great phone , but during heavy use with a third party apps (but also with apple apps only) like Gmaps or some games or simply doing an multitasking You can expect the brightness will dim form 20% to 70% percent so I advice not to do that on a very sunny/bright day as You won’t be able to see anything on the screen “

Would You still buy the phone ?

I probably wouldn’t but I have an appointment at the apple store to have them check it out. I have AC+. So he said they would just replace it. I guess we shall see what’s up.
