As an avid addict, ive gone through X, Xs, 11, and now 12 Pro Max.
Each time Ive managed to give it to another family member with anywhere between 96%-98% battery health.
Recently, and only noticing in the iOS 15 Beta, have I seen the battery health as low as 93%.

Is this battery health drop normal in the 12 series or in the beta?

I've been using the now archaic Spansive Source for some charging, which increases heat output on the device.
But im not sure if this is common throughout the 12 line or not.

Foremost, try not to get obsessed with battery health values — I say that as someone with OCD/OCPD. You can check every month or so during the first year to ensure it’s not a defective battery so that you can have it replaced under warranty terms. However, beyond that, frequent checking isn’t beneficial.

Regarding battery depletion comparisons:

• It’s very easy to underestimate usage. If you have Screen Time notifications active, pay attention to the average time used summary provided each week; you may be quite surprised.
• Apple has fixed/tweaked their battery reporting mechanism to reflect the typical, recent charging habits of users.
— Specifically, most users rarely allow their device’s battery level to reach a point in which the device auto powers off. Users also charge devices whenever is onvenient. This isn’t wrong, however, it does make accurately determining of battery levels more difficult for the system.
— My evidence: Apple included a recalibration task in recent iOS versions and (more apparent) many users (on these boards) were previously sharing reports of 100% battery health after a device was used for several months or years. That’s not possible unless their device included a battery at greater than design capacity (e.g., 108%), they use their device so little and only need to charge it once per week, or the health value wasn’t being properly reported.

I've been following this thread since early March when I started to notice my battery is just...not...right!
Drop to 99% in late Feb., I didn't think much of that.

But then to 98, 97% a few days later. Been a steady drop since.

I’ve had an iPhone 11 since December 2019 and ever since I updated to iOS 14 (and with every other 14 update) I’ve watched my battery health melt away. From losing 2 percentage points in the first year to losing another another 9 in the last few months. Sitting at 89% now - not happy really
