Why does the 12 pro max not switch to the telephoto lense when selected. Instead it uses the wide lense but cropped in. Sometimes you can see the camera app switch to the correct lense as in this video I took. I noticed this with picture and video.
 
In this case it looks like the flowers are not far enough away for the telephoto lens to focus. Therefore the phone switches to the 1x lens which can focus at less distant objects...
 
That's because apple programed it like that in low light situations .
The wide lens is better in low light so the phone assume you'll get better result in digital zoom rather than optic zoom
 
Just seems strange. That if I choose the 2.5x telephoto lense. It should use that. Rather then thinking about using it then switching back to wide.

Fair enough. But it wasn’t low light. Should allow people to pick the Lense they want. But thanks for the input.
