By looking at the specs, the Pro Max has
  1. better Optical zoom range (5x vs 4x)
  2. better stabilization system (Sensor-shift optical image stabilization vs Dual optical image stabilization)
  3. bigger sensor on the wide lens
  4. better battery
  5. bigger display
However, the Pro Max has the following cons:
  1. inferior aperture for the Telephoto lens (ƒ/2.2 aperture vs ƒ/2.0 aperture)
  2. bigger size and more weight
My main question is if the Pro Max is too big to carry around or if it is worth it because of its pros.

I assume the smaller aperture is because of the larger focal length.
I was thinking at 2x the aperture is probably the same. At 2.5x the aperture is 2.2. But I’m not sure.

What kind of iPhone do you have now? Isn’t the pro max about the same footprint as the 8 plus?

although I hate big phone, I am leaning towards Max.
Sensor shift OIS is the one keeps nudging me.

Do you have any factual data on what benefits it brings?
It might just be to accomodate the bigger sensor and the actual end results (in photos/video) to be exactly the same.

Honestly curious as I am also between both phones...

I'm torn by this. I was ready to go for the 12 Pro, but I'm really disappointed that they Max seems to get quite some improvements in the camera bit (besides the bigger battery, screen). And that for 'just' 100e which almost seems like a bargain.

But I'm not really on board with the size of the Max. Why oh why did they not get the same camera specs on both Pro models.

This is the one I read on to understand what it does:

finally, I have locked in to 12 pro with pre-approval finance for coming Friday pre-order.
£100 difference is very marginal and appealing yet I could not use the big size phone as daily driver for years.

I already posted this snippet elsewhere on the forum, but it is pertinent here:

Screen brightness!

12 Pro - 800 nits max brightness (typical)
12 - 625 nits max brightness (typical)

But both say 1,200 nits max brightness (HDR)

Any explanation?

Also, 12 Pro has Dolby Vision HDR video recording up to 60 fps. 12 only manages 30 fps.

12 Pro has Apple ProRAW.
