Just a simple opinion poll. Do you think that all of this year’s iPhones will be available in September, there will be a staggered launch with some models coming later, or all models will come later?

The credible sources seem to lean towards a staggered launch even under ideal conditions. I suspect the sub-6 models (non-Pro) will come out first, in late September if we're lucky. The mmW models, probably October if not even later.

I didn’t vote in your poll:

However, the reason I believe it would be staggered, is by having a separate iPhone launch, it allows the emphasis to be placed Separately away from different iPhone models. Otherwise, it’s way too much ‘media focus’ on that many iPhone models/sizes. Apples marketing is usually very tactful, and why would they want to draw the focus away from the more expensive/larger iPhone, when they can easily have two Keynotes (As they did with the 2017 X in November), which might include different hardware with the Apple tags, revamped AirPods, Series 6 Apple Watch, possible new HomePod coming, etc.

Important factor in launch of new iPhone is Coronavirus Hard to really know what’s happening in China as far as COVID-19 is concerned

China has been on the rebound for a while now. But more than anything, it’s not just about China, is Apples manufacturing back on par, and from my understanding, it is. I don’t suspect there will be any initial delays from China, not when there are other parts of the world that are in far worse shape than China is at this point.

If I had to make a prediction today, everything Apple has intended to launch in the fall, will launch on time. If they stagger some products from September through November, that might be by design, not by any delays due to the pandemic.

I hope you’re right as that’s all I am interested in. Hoping Apple don’t release the Pro’s first in the hope people will not be able to wait lol.

I think that we'll see the regular iPhone 12 in September, with the pro models coming in November.

I'd say the Pro models will come first, with the non-pro cheaper models coming later in October or later.
It will be similar to the Xs and XR staggered releases. Usually you would want the pricier models to come first so you can maximize the margins you can get for those who are unable to wait (usually less price sensitive). Then release the cheaper model to get the remainder customers who were waiting/on the fence (tend to be more price sensitive).

The iPhone 11 shows what Apple prefers when both the design team and supply chain are prepared. All models launch at the same time in September. That business case makes the most sense.

The XR was delayed due to JDI and the late decision to add DSDS.

In 2020, there's hardly anyone "unable" to wait for the next iPhone. Everyone is using a mature smartphone. When you stagger your launches, you allow the competition to catch up, respond, and consumers to consider alternatives.

If they all don’t release together, I hope this is true. My wallet is waiting for the 12 Pro Max.

Will you go crazy if it isn’t September?

I would rather Apple get things done properly, than rush to meet a timeline that they created, and one that can be changed at any time.
I wouldnt go crazy but I think September seems likely a good launch. Remember guys we’re not getting an iPhone X this time around there’s a lot of models being released and Apple wants to make sure everyone gets what they want this year in a timely frame.

Apple is probably developing new iPhones right now. It’s the mid of July so I’m sure they‘re in a process of being made.

Check out this article! production to began in July! It’s a 3 months process so end of SEPTEMBER is looking more promising.

You may be right. Not long now. It’s either going to be clowns and streaming balloons in September, or doom and gloom with forum members walking around in sack cloth ripping their clothes asunder crying out Apple where art thou.

It’s worth considering that even if production hasn’t been affected by the pandemic, with so many models coming a staggered launch might make sense just so as not to overwhelm/confuse costumers.
It also extends the new iPhone season. Gets the public hyped for new iPhones in the early fall and then again closer to the holidays.

I don't think that the staggered launch of the 8/8+ and the X back in 2017 was just a matter of OLED screen supply limitations or whatever they said. They wanted the hype of two separate launches.

Consider that the iPhone X was on the market for only 10 months (instead of 12) as a result of the delayed launch. Was that in Apple's best interests? Putting the product in people's hands and social circles generates more hype than a virtual product. Look at the Model 3 launch and potential customers who asked for deposits back as time went on.
