Discussion aimed at those on the iPhone 12 generation. Will you be upgrading to this year's iteration? and why (not)?

I was seriously considering it due to the USB-C but also the new 48mp camera. but I'm still not sure

Excited to be going from a 12Pro Max to the base model iPhone 15. I don’t need the larger screen, the telephoto lens or an always on display. I’ll take the dynamic island, A16 bionic chip and 48mp camera…so despite being a base model seems it seems a fairly decent upgrade from the 12 Pro Max. Looking forward to be saving a couple hundred ££’s too.

IF you think about the depreciation curve, then 12 lost max amount going to 13, less so going to 14, and even less than that going to 15.
Long story short - you have the best bang for buck trade in values return - or put another way you are paying almost the same money to upgrade from 3 year phone as other who do with 11 month iphone 14s.

I will probably be upgrading to the 15 Pro since my 12 Pro battery is shot and doesn't always charge, either by cable or inductive charging.

12 PM here. Undecided. Tempted but also, not sure how much of a bump in camera it is compared to the 12 PM since I havent seen the 13 and 14PM.

I tested 12 MP found in 14PM which is not far away from your 12PM versus 14PM 48MP Raw.
Link. Difference is huge if you use RAW 48 MP shooting mode - which is quite slower and cumbersome size and needs lightroom edits.

12PM -> 15PM

Big draws for me:
- 5x zoom
- Significantly improved camera quality
- Cinematic mode
- Next generation Portrait mode
- Macro photography
- Action mode
- A17 Pro: ray tracing, improved game capabilities, etc.
- 2GB more RAM
- Ultrawideband 2 for precision finding others who are sharing their location

Things that didn't motivate me to purchase, but are nice to have:
- Safety features
- Better battery performance
- Lighter, narrower and shorter than the 12PM
- Titanium
- USB C

Upgrading both the 12s in the house. One has a terrible battery (used 26% of the battery today just loading my backup from iCloud). The other is better but it is easier for both adults to get a 15 Plus and pass down our 13s to the kids. Keeps things on a more even upgrade pattern.

Hi I am in a little bit of a dilemma. My wife has a IPhone 12 which she is happy for, but she is using it a LOT, which means that the battery is not good enough, after about 2 years. I am very uncertain if I should get her the 15 or 15 pro.
She had a 12 pro max for a few months, but got withstanding soreness in her thumbs from the weight of it.
She uses the phone for taking pictures, web surfing and a lot texting, calling and for social media. She takes a lot of pictures, but only for either looking at them on the phone or for social media.
She is happy for the 12 and the light weight, but not so happy about battery life.
I am thorn about 15 pro with better camera and battery OR 15 since the weight is not much more than the 12 she uses today (and no changing the battery in her 12 is not an option, I have other use for that phone).
Any recommendations on what to choose?

I have a 12 Pro and will not be upgrading. The incremental updates of the 13, 14, and now 15 aren't good enough to justify an upgrade and 24 months of payments. I just had the battery replaced and my 12 Pro works just like it did day 1.

My photos and videos still look good, the display is responsive and fluid, the 12 Pro gets iOS 17, etc. I'm good to go.

Do you think is it worth upgrading from iPhone 12 Pro (86% battery capacity) to 15 (standard)?

Yes 12P to 15PM. The 13 and 14 didn’t offer much more compared to my 12, except for better battery (even for the standard Pro), promotion and dynamic island. Everything else was expected enhancements from year to year. The 15 PM Max imo has changes that the 13 and 14 lacked that I see as a plus. USB-C with faster data speed, titanium frame that shaves off some weight even it’s a little bit, an action button that is more than a single function mute switch and more ram.
All the other enhancements are a bonus

I have a 12 pro and I am going to upgrade. (At least if I can tolerate the display and don’t get headaches)

My 12 pro still says battery health is 85% and the number didn’t change for over 18 months so I am not really trusting it be accurate and I do need to recharge at some point midday so it lasts for a day… but I don’t think apple will exchange the battery if battery health doesn’t drop below 80%…

Yes, I plan to upgrade from the iPhone 12 Pro to the iPhone 15 Pro. Debating on if I purchase through Apple or Verizon.

Battery is why I’m upgrading from my 12. It’s at 87% and barely lasts a full day, sometimes doesn’t.
