I’m curious how Apple stores will deal with pre-orders/upgrade programme upgrades this year.

I know previous years, you can rock up at your time slot, pick up and away you go - but with reduced capacities at Apple Stores, social distancing etc it doesn’t seem feasible to me to roll out like previous years.

it would take weeks to get through just the launch day demand.

I’d love to upgrade online. The workflow I see is;
1) go online and pre-order - going through upgrade process
2) phone arrives on launch day
3) package old phone
4) go online and upload images to apples website noting any damage, condition notes before youcsendetc
5) pay for damage if specified
6) if no damage, place a hold on credit card
7) phone is checked against condition notes and photos

you’re never without a phone, avoid stores, and if you’re honest about the condition should have no issue with a hold being placed card/paying for damage.

just my two cents
