Silly question but currently rocking an IPhone X and really enjoy the size for pocket carry. I had planned to upgrade to the 12PM since my eyes are having a harder time reading the text without reading glasses, but I’m a little concerned with the size 12PM fitting in my front pocket and of course the weight. Not sure if the if the 12P which is closer in size to the X would suffice since it is going from a 5.8” to a 6.1” And is the 6.7” of the 12PM really gonna help that much?

Anybody with a 11PMax that could comment if its made it easier to read e-mail, websites, etc., or is it just you have more screen and less zooming in/out?

I've had the Plus/ Max sizes ever since they became available, and ended up adjusted the font size to the smallest size available. The bigger screen allows you to see more content at smaller font but this of course scales with the font size.

My friend with the 11P uses the default font size and the font is still huge in my opinion.

The Pro and Pro Max have the same default text size.

However, you can use zoomed display mode. Much easier for aging eyes to read.

I hear the Pro can now use zoomed display mode. In the past the Pro/X size couldn't, because there was no appropriate smaller size to zoom from, which meant only the Max and the non-Pro could zoom. I guess with the new mini, that now likely becomes the size the Pro can zoom from.

BTW, do you normally wear glasses? If so, you can get lenses that will compensate for this so you don't have to switch to reading glasses all the time.

I have a 11PM and use reading glasses on occasion with it. I definitely prefer the Max screen for my aging eyes. I wouldn’t want anything smaller.
I’ve never had a issue carrying the XSM or the 11PM in my front pocket.

The majority of my use is email texts and posting in forums. So screen is important to me.

Do you use zoomed display mode? Cuz if you don't, then for text size, the 11PM offers no advantage to the 11P, because text is the same size in default non-zoomed mode. That is unless you manually change text size, but I don't recommend that because it makes everything wonky.

I had changed “Text size” under Display and Brightness but had not enabled under Accessibility. I’ll give that a try. I appreciate the tip. I’m using Spark for email and don’t see that it changed the size.

Confirmed. All those phones have the same aspect ratio:

12 Pro Max: 2778/1284 = 2.16:1
12 Pro: 2532/1170 = 2.16:1
12: 2532/1170 = 2.16:1
mini: 2340/1080 = 2.17:1

That means one should expect to be able to use the 12/12 Pro in zoomed display mode to get what is displayed on a mini with bigger text, and one should also be able to use the 12 Pro Max in zoomed display mode to get what is displayed on a 12/12 Pro with bigger text.

Presumably the mini will not support zoomed display mode, since there is no smaller iPhone with the same aspect ratio.

Yeah, it's usually best to keep the text size the same and use zoom display mode instead, assuming you now have that available to you. (Previously it was not available on the X or 11 Pro.)

I have the 11 Pro max, and I love the size. I’ve never had any difficulty carrying the largest iPhones in my pockets. I’m 59, and I wear progressive lenses. I like that I can have more text onscree.

Thank you so much for all this information and taking the time to reply.
