Hello,

I was wondering when the price of the iPhone 13 mini is expect to drop.

I've read on some websites that in April and June a price drop is likely.

What do you think? When can we expect another price drop?

Thank you.

The comment below PERFECTLY summarizes my thoughts on the matter. Minis never sold very well; that's likely a contributing factor to the iPhone 12 mini not still being sold alongside the still-sold iPhone 12.

If you want to get an iPhone 13 mini at a discount, Apple now sells refurbished models. Otherwise, I'd get one now while they're still sold!

There might be a price drop (from Apple) in September, if 13 mini is still sold once iPhones 15 are out. The risk is that Apple drop mini out altogether then, keeping only a standard 6.1” iPhone 13, as they did this year with iPhone 12.

it won't drop anymore. apple doesnt suddenly drop prices on their phones off-cycle. it's becoming harder and hard to find them at carriers anyway. i assume once the stock is sold through, they won't be making many more.

Apple being apple is more about the profits.
Currently, iphone 12 is $630 while 13 is $730 and 13 mini is $630 - very head scratching moment in terms of the choice which is good.
12 mini would be $530 and SE 2022 is $430 and 13 mini is $630 - people would dump all and buy 13 mini. Or vice versa, sold 12 minis is a potential lost sale on 13 mini. Too close of a product placement.
Though 12 mini is sold for around $460 in the refurbished section.

My guess:
1) 13 mini completely taken out but still offered at refurbished store for $469+.
2) 13 mini is kept along with 13, and priced another $100 less at $530.

$530 is a good price - i would consider dumping all my old iphones and just buying it. At $630 that is still questionable for me.

Next step is removal from Apple Store. The 12 mini was removed and there’s no reason to believe 13 mini is special.

There is a rumor that the 15 sees a price increase. So it could be like in Europe last September.
The 13 stayed the same and the 14 increased by 100

But there is no 14 mini offered? So it is not 1:1 case comparison.

Apple replaced it with the 14 Plus.

Given Apple believes Plus is more popular than the mini, there is no logical reason why Apple would extend the life of 13 mini.

This. I'm not expecting a Mini of any kind after September. And with rumors of a 6.1" SE in 2024, looks like small iPhones are coming to the end of the road (at least for the foreseeable future).

And this. Might be able to find Minis at retailers for a discount as they get rid of inventory, but will be taking a risk hoping this happens.

Add in as others mentioned, that the Mini was never a big seller for Apple, might be a good idea to get one while you can. Which is what I did this week: wanted Face ID, small phone, and since there is probably no update to SE this year, got one while I could.

The logical reason to keep it in the line up is to provide that small size option for those that want it. The Plus models are for those that cannot afford the Pro Max models, or prefer a lighter weight 6.7” iphone. Both models have their place.

But back to the OP question, the 13 Mini may get a small price drop when the 15’s come out, but bare in mind when the 14’s were released the 13 mini actually went up in price on Amazon U.K. and they sold out their stocks fast (especially the midnight colour).

I think the price reduction will be just before the release of the next model of iPhone.

Let's pretend Apple backtracks on their shift to big displays. They keep iPhone 13 mini on life support. How would they price it? iPhone 13 mini currently sells for $599.

iPhone SE 64GB = $429
iPhone 13 mini 128GB = $499??

There is no room for iPhone 13 mini in the price stack even if Apple wanted to keep it. iPhone 13 mini will be either too expensive at $599 and collide with iPhone 14 ($699) or too cheap and compete with iPhone SE.

Well, if we are heaving fun, we might as well go all the way.

Imagine Apple dropping SE out altogether, then the lineup could be:

iPhone 13 mini - 499$
iPhone 13 - 599$
iPhone 14 - 699$
iPhone 15, etc. - 799$ +

This way Apple could gain an extra 70$ on their least expensive entry line iPhone and customers would get a much more capable device too, compared to SE. What is there not to like?

That would be a big boon for customers! It might be possible if not for 6% inflation.

Apple is too used to huge margins. They want $429 for what is essentially a refreshed iPhone 8. Pricing iPhone 13 mini at $499 would be like fighting in the mud with Android. They don't need to do that, especially when data shows customers are buying all the Pro models that Apple can make.

Totally agree. That’s why I just bought a 13 mini as my backup/2nd line. I wasn’t willing to take the chance that I won’t be able to buy one when it’s no longer available.

Apple is selling the 12 mini in refurbished store in US and offers 13s in Europe. Pretty much for sure one will be able to pickup discounted refurbished 13 mini for another year until Iphone 16 comes out.

What about the refurbished prices, those are very favourable with the twelve, I expect that to happen with the thirteen as well ?

Well yes. Usually $100 less then the new model and additional 15% discount from the refurb store.

So the 13 mini will get the current price of the 12 mini
