As someone who wanted the 12 mini last year, but instead going for the superior cameras of the 12 Pro Max
(yes, I was one of those people clamoring for a small phone, only to get the 12 PM, haha),

I couldn’t help but notice on the Apple website that trading in my 12 PM can get me the 13 mini for free, or the 256GB version for $9.

It would seem silly to sacrifice the third lens and battery life, but if rumors are to be believed, this is my last chance to get a small, non-SE iPhone for a while, and to put my money where my mouth is and make good on getting that smaller phone.

I‘ve also posted how much the other 13 models (all at 256GB, same as my 12PM) would go for after a 12 PM trade-in.

Any thoughts?

Is it silly of of me to be entertaining trading in a 12 PM for a $9 13 mini, or a $109 13?

I’d love to hear some suggestions.

I am also putting my money where my mouth is as I previously said I wanted my next phone to be the mini if it was still available.

I have an iPhone 11 Pro and I will miss having the 3rd camera option, but I would prefer my phone to be comfortable in my pocket and easier to use with one hand.

I prefer to use my iPad, MacBook or PC screen whenever I am at my desk, and watch videos on an actual TV so not being able to get things done on a larger screen won’t bother me too much.

I was a bit worried about it being too small but I coincidentally saw my first iPhone 12 mini in the wild today and got a close look at my cousins phone and it looks the perfect size for me.

Best Buy didn’t say how much I would get back when I send in my iPhone 11 Pro back but I went to Verizon first and I was expected to pay $3.33 a month for 24 months. Best Buy appears to offer the same discount as Verizon, and you are asked to send it back to Verizon.

Its not silly at all. You are pining for a smaller phone, and the 12/13 Mini are the best small phones anyone can get period, with the 13 mini having even better battery life by 1.5 hours, 128 GB storage and its camera having the same sensor shift lens as your 12 PM. Also bare in mind that the Mini’s have the sharpest, highest PPI screens ever released by Apple, so you wont have to struggle to see whats on screen by moving down to the smaller screen size.

I know many members are going to say “dont do it”, “its a downgrade’ etc, but if you really want a smaller, light and one handed use iphone, the 13 mini is the one to get and you can get it for only $9 for the 256GB version in exchange for your 12 PM.
