iPhone 13 Pro main sensor f1.5 prime lens lets in more light (f6.8 equivalent) aperture compared to the f2.8 zoom lens (f7.6 equivalent) on the RX100M7. The iPhone also has macro 2cm ultra wide camera and is waterproof.

The iPhone also shoots better video- 1080p 240 and 4K 60 fps.

You can always get the RX100 IV/V if you want better low light than iPhone 13 Pro and don’t care about 200mm zoom.

What your talking about is specs on paper. The bigger sensor in a RX100, even MK1, and sharper lens results in sharper/better photos than any iPhone. F1.5 is not always better in many situations.

The RX100 range is still excellent. And images are a lot better, especially with a bit of editing. They are sharper, zoom is better, raw files contain more data. Even the Rx100 M3 still holds up today in image quality.

A lower aperture doesn’t mean better images. The 1.5 aperture on the 13 Pro models equates to a faster shutter and a softer image than last years 12 Pro Max or even the regular 13 and 13 mini from this year. The software is then processing the images to compensate and making them look poor in some circumstances.

There’s simply not a substitute for good glass and a larger quality sensor.

Especially when so many 13 pro’s are experiencing poor quality images so far; very soft images with poor focus and even the pro raw files are over processed. Hopefully Apple can tweak things, and I’m not in any way saying the photos are all poor, they aren’t I’ve seen since stunning shots even on this forum from the new phones, but it’s not as great as I think people thought given Apple really pushed the improvements this year camera wise.

I just came back from a trip to Hawaii with a iphone 13 pro and tried my damndest to take a close-up shot of this chameleon and could NOT get the camera to work with me. Focus/etc is literally hell, and I was standing right there! And they're slow! I can't believe how frustrated I was at not having any control over the software. Yes there are some apps that can do it (I later installed camera+) but I didn't have reception where we were.
