Can I get some honest thoughts on whether I should accept this from a £1000 phone? Is it worth going for an exchange? These chips seem to be under the camera bump so likely happened during assembly I guess.

It is an expensive device and you don't want to be having this bugging you for the next couple of years if you decide to keep it. Personally I would get a replacement.

Yeah thanks guys, contacted Apple and it’s getting replaced! Never had any issues before with Apple products so hopefully just a one off.

iPhones are assembled by young, bored, unskilled seasonal workers in China who don’t make very much money. Their hours are very long and their job is repetitive- doing the same thing over and over and over all day long for months. iPhones are pounded out by the millions by these workers. It’s amazing more iPhones aren’t messed up.
