I am worried that my new green iPhone 13 Pro Max 512 might be defective. I had a blue one for a couple of weeks, I didn’t notice issues with it (I just didn't like the color enough). Then I returned it for the green one. On this new one the camera frequently uses the wrong lens.

It happens especially when I am recording videos.

For example:
- I am shooting a video with the 0.5x camera
- I press the 1x button, now the video is clearly a crop of the 0.5x camera. It’s bad.
- I go back to the 0.5 and then to 1x. It’s fixed, the video quality is so much better
- I then switch to the 3x camera and the same issue arises. It’s clearly a cropped image.
- I go back to 1x and to 3x again. It finally switches to 3x properly. The video quality is much much better.

It doesn’t always happen. But it does it frequently enough to be very annoying. I went to the zoo and many videos I shot are plagued by me having to switch back and forth again to the right lens. The lighting condition was perfect! Midday, sunny day with 0 clouds in the sky.

Anybody with the same issue? Is this a hardware issue? Or a bug in the latest iOS version? (15.4.1)

Thanks, but I’m shooting at 30 fps and the “Lock Camera” setting is off. So that thread doesn’t seem to help.

I guess it's just me. Probably an hardware issue then... I will try to reset the iPhone and then, if that doesn't help, get a replacement. -_-

Actually I discovered that all my iPhones are affected by this. New and old. Even after resetting to a clean install.

How the heck is no one talking about this issue? It seems to be an iOS bug.
