Anyone else experienced this? Checked the logs on the iPhone and it shows full panic, so sent it back to Apple and they gave me a brand new replacement. Since receiving the replacement unit, the phone has had 1 random reboot and 1 random shutdown in about a week. I am beginning to think this is a software bug as what are the chances of two brand new units having similar issues. I also tried setting the phone up as new (skipping iCloud backup during setup) and only signing in to restore iCloud photos etc.

Hopefully iOS 15.1 will fix this.

Mine restarts like 5 times every night while I'm watching tv, then I can hear the charger sound overnight when it restarts I'm also getting a pink screen, app crashes and the phone shuts off. Luckily I haven't returned my old phone, maybe I can get a replacement or hopefully there will be an update that will fix it.

That is alot, mine only seem to do it once every few days. Under Setting->Privacy->Analytics & Improvements->Analytics data you can see many crash logs under the "panic-full-xxxxx"?

Have you tried restoring your phone from iTunes/Finder, this will wipe the iOS completely and install a clean copy.

I have updated to 15.1 so lets wait and see if the random restart issues continues, otherwise may have to set it up as a completely brand new phone without any backup or signing into iCloud to eliminate the possibility of hardware issues, which I think is unlikely given Apple has already replaced my phone.

I had a random restart this morning on my 13 Pro. Noticed that I needed to enter passcode after a restart.
I could see the timestamp on a "panic-full"-log, but i can't read out what caused it.

The first line of my log says bug type 210 but unfortunately not too much info on what causes each of the bug type. Are you on iOS 15.1? I updated mine 4 days ago, so far haven’t had a restart but only time will tell.

Apple does mention Kernel Panics for Mac OSX, I am no expert but alot of panics/restarts can be caused by memory management issue where a bug in the app or software uses too much memory and not enough is left for the operating system. iOS sometimes has to force quit or jettison an app, this is recorded as an JetsamEvent under the analytics logs. I wonder if this was something addressed in 15.1.

This was after updating to 15.1. It was randomly in the morning, I had almost not used it at all. But the day before I tested different camera apps, so there could be something with memory management.

My 13 Pro Max has restarted once by itself since iOS 15.1. Panic entry shows bug type 210. It occurred after taking a photo by immediately accessing it in WhatsApp. Screen went black and restarted.
Genius Bar appointment today said it can be software (210 should be photo media related) or either hardware. If device continues rebooting with panic entries (at least 3 times) the phone can be replaced. Maybe I’ll try reinstalling iOS with iMazing because I don’t want to setup everything again. I think it’s software related.
Never had such reboots before with my iPhone 11. I’m already missing it. ?

Edit: A deeper view shows me duetexpertd daemon. As far as I remember right it is related to iOS/iCloud sync. My photos are uploaded to iCloud after taking, so it could be conflicting if WhatsApp is accessing in same time, couldn’t it?

iOS 15 has definitely been one of the buggiest major release I can remember in recent years. My phone hasn’t had a random reboot or shutdown for over 2 weeks now since updating to 15.1, which leads to me think it’s software as my usage habits haven’t changed and I haven’t deleted any apps or files. Fingers crossed future iOS releases aren’t dont bring more issues.

Today my iPhone has rebooted again. Same steps as last time. Took a photo, selected it in WhatsApp and screen went violett/black and restarted.
So, is it hardware or software related? As it only occurs with WhatsApp. Panic full shows same details at last time.

Well, since iPhone OS was a thing; Macs had a high kernel panic rate and is still common today, One thong to note is that iOS and tvOS are all based on macOS which in itself is based on Darwin, a open-source kernel/OS (idk)..

i had mine for 2months nothing happened then i download an app that scan covid-19 verifications and one day when i scan a barcode the phone freeze i press the sleep button and then screen goes purple in the middle and black in the sides and do a very quick restart i put again passcode and everything ok but in the logs there is a panic full log. i think its a software bug from the bad design app but if this happen to you like 3-4 times the phone is defective. i delete the app and use it nothing have happen yet

My phone did this twice, but stopped it after posting here. Don't know if one of the updates or my usage behavior changed something. It definitely seems camera usage related. Although Apple says more than three times is hardware related I think it's software related. After taking a photo the photo seems blurry for a few seconds and I think the file is kind of mutexed and forces the system to panic if it is accessed by another App.

Replying here as I have had the kernel panic this morning while I was using Whatsapp and native camera App. Phone froze, rebooted.

Has not happened again (hoping it would never happen again) but here are the steps I did after the panic log:

1. Update to iOS 15.2.1
2. Called Apple Support to do diagnostics - Apple Support person said no hardware issues and to eliminate software issues, do a backup + factory restore
3. Did a factory restore, restore from backup

So far from reading around, no one really knows the answer. Not sure if anyone here can read / decipher panic logs too.

I think it's related to a locking problem during background processes. As long as the picture is displayed blurry, accessing it has a chance to force a kernel panic. It seems related only to the new 13 generation iPhones (maybe differences how images are getting post processing?).
Factory resets don't seem to help. Last time getting a bit deeper in one of the panic logs, I have found an iCloud process.

Since I have lots of local storage on my iPhone 13 Pro, I’ve changed my iCloud sync setting to keep original files and have redownloaded all my photos from iCloud to phone. This way I can minimize the constant loading from cloud to phone that might be (emphasis on might as the cause is still unknown) stressing the phone and causing the crash.

I’ll observe for now.

This is my default setting.

According to Golem.de Apple acknowledged this issue as a software problem (pink screen freeze).
